Our Philosophy:
Putting Elephants First
At the Elephant Freedom Project, our elephants are our first priority, not the tourists.
We provide a peaceful shelter for elephants
who have spent their lives working in the harsh riding industry.
Today, they are finally free to live a relaxed, natural life.
Freedom of Movement & Interaction
Unlike other places, we don't follow a set route or force the elephants to obey a schedule.
On Their Initiative: Interaction only happens when our elephants want it to. They will approach you, not the other way around.
No Forced Walks: We don't offer structured "elephant walks" where they are forced to follow a path. Our elephants go where they want, when they want.
Always Together: Elephants are social animals. At our sanctuary, they are never separated and spend their entire day together.
A Slow and Relaxed Pace
We believe that meaningful connections cannot be rushed.
Nice and Slow: Everything at the EFP happens at a relaxed pace. We take our time so you can truly bond with the elephants.
No "Bathing Tours": At other places, elephants are bathed by endless rotations of tourists. Here, they go to the river once a day, only if they feel like it, and they can leave whenever they choose.
Limited Visitors: We keep our groups small to ensure the environment remains calm for the elephants and personal for you.
The Reward of Rescue
Before they came to us, our elephants had hard lives. We saved them from the riding industry where some elephants are forced to carry 80 tourists a day.
Healthy & Happy: You will see truly happy elephants here. We use fruit baskets to encourage interaction, making the experience rewarding for them too.
Strict No-Riding Policy: We never offer rides. It is harmful to their health and spirit. We want happy, healthy elephants only.
